Wills
We provide in-depth, personalised Will writing services that take your full situation into account. Your Will is drafted by a qualified lawyer and financial planner who will ensure all legal requirements are met while helping you consider your long-term goals.
Why have a Will?
Dying without a Will (intestate) leaves your estate to be divided by the government under the rules of intestacy, which may not reflect your wishes. Making a Will allows you to remain in control of how and to whom your assets are distributed.
Four good reasons to have a Will:
- If you have children under 18, a Will allows you to appoint legal guardians of your choice.
- An unmarried partner is not entitled to your estate unless named in a Will.
- A Will can help reduce the inheritance tax payable on your estate.
- It ensures your estate is distributed exactly as you wish.
Types of Wills and Our Fees:
- Single Will – £109.00
- Mirror Will – £245.00
How it works:
We start with a free consultation (via phone, email, or live chat), followed by a basic fact-finding meeting. If you proceed, a thorough review is conducted in a follow-up session, where we gather all necessary information to tailor your Will to your specific needs. Your Will is prepared and posted within 10 working days, or sooner for urgent cases (at an extra cost). We then supervise the signing process to ensure legal validity.
Updating and Storage:
Wills should be updated when:
- You acquire new assets or make changes to existing ones
- Your family circumstances change (births, deaths, marriage, divorce)
- You enter a new relationship
We offer secure Will storage for an annual fee and update services when needed.
Things to consider when writing a Will:
Even small mistakes can render a Will invalid. We ensure:
- You meet the legal age and mental capacity requirements
- The Will is properly signed and witnessed
- All formalities are followed to prevent challenges during probate
Revoking or altering a Will:
- A new valid Will revokes an earlier one
- Marriage or civil partnership revokes a Will unless made in contemplation of the marriage
- Wills can be revoked by destruction, with intent
- Alterations must be properly signed and witnessed
What properties can and cannot be transferred under a Will:
Some assets cannot be passed on via a Will, including:
- Joint tenancy property (automatically goes to surviving owner)
- Nominated funds (up to £5,000 designated directly to a nominee)
- Life insurance policies held in trust for named beneficiaries

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
An LPA allows you to appoint someone to manage your affairs if you lose mental capacity. It is a vital part of future planning, often overlooked until it’s too late.
What is an LPA?
A legal document authorising one or more trusted individuals (Attorneys) to act on your behalf regarding health, welfare, property, or finances if you become unable to do so yourself.
Who needs an LPA?
Anyone over 18 who wants to ensure their affairs will be handled by someone they trust in the event of incapacity.
Requirements for a valid LPA:
- You must be over 18 and have full mental capacity at the time of creation
- The LPA must be signed by the donor, attorneys, witnesses, and a certificate provider (who confirms the donor’s capacity)
How to make an LPA:
We help you complete the required forms (paper or online), guide you through selecting attorneys, and ensure all parties sign as needed. LPAs must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before they are legally effective.
Who can witness or certify an LPA?
- Must be over 18
- Attorneys may witness each other’s signatures, but not the donor’s
- Certificate providers must be independent and cannot be your attorney
We can act as your attorney and assist with completing and registering your LPA. Contact us today for a free 20-minute telephone consultation.
Probate
The probate process can be overwhelming during a time of grief. At LizzDeeLaw, we handle all aspects of estate administration so that you don’t have to face the burden alone.
What we help with:
- Identifying and locating the deceased’s Will
- Ensuring burial wishes are respected
- Gathering information about assets and liabilities
- Calculating and submitting inheritance tax (IHT) to HMRC
- Applying for the Grant of Probate
- Handling all other probate-related matters
How we work:
We begin with a free 1-hour phone consultation, followed by an in-person meeting if required. After assessing the scope of work, we provide a quote and begin the process immediately. Additional meetings may be arranged where necessary.

Taxation
Mistakes in tax filing can lead to costly penalties. We provide guidance to help individuals and businesses remain compliant and make the most of available tax reliefs.
We provide support with:
- Income Tax for sole traders and partnerships
- Corporation Tax for limited companies
- Capital Gains Tax and general tax efficiency planning
We help ensure that taxes are calculated accurately, filed on time, and that you benefit from all applicable allowances. Contact us today for a free 1-hour telephone consultation.
